{December 6, 2016} ARNOLD, MO – Student leaders from Fox and Seckman High Schools met with Fox C-6 district administrators on December 1, 2016 in the inaugural meeting of the Student Advisory Council. Sixteen high school students representing both high school campuses were present at the first meeting, hosted by Assistant Superintendent for Secondary Education, Dr. Nisha Patel.

“As the new Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Schools, my hope is to not only get to know our student body, but also to inspire our students to have a voice in the future of our district,” Dr. Patel said.

The creation of the Student Advisory Council aligns with the district’s Comprehensive School Improvement Plan goal for Culture, Climate, and Safety by providing students with opportunities to take active roles in discussing the educational environment with staff. The overall vision for the Student Advisory Council includes the following:

  • Provide students the opportunity to shape the direction of the district based on insight and experiences as a student in one of our high schools.

  • Encourage growth as student leaders by supporting, encouraging, and celebrating each other’s success within the group and within the schools.

  • To represent all facets of Fox C-6 high schools by discussing challenges in the schools and exploring possible solutions to any major issues.

Students were selected to participate in the Student Advisory Council based on recommendations from teachers and administrators. “Not only is this an opportunity to highlight the amazing student leadership talent we have here,” said Dr. Patel, “this is an opportunity to work directly with our students on their values and beliefs as members of the Fox C-6 community.”
