{April 11, 2018} ARNOLD, MO –The Fox C-6 School District congratulates Ms. Eva Rudolph of Fox Middle School for being named the 2018 Fox C-6 District Teacher of the Year!

Ms. Rudolph has been an educator for 11 years and currently teaches middle school students at Fox Middle. In addition to teaching, Eva is an active member of the Fox Middle School Community and developed the FMS leadership class S.W.E.E.T. (Student Wellness Education and Empowerment Team). S.W.E.E.T. provides many opportunities to students, including empowering them to create videos that support the building’s character education mission. With over 14,000 views on YouTube, the S.W.E.E.T. videos have become an important part of Fox Middle’s approach to discussing important topics such as bullying and acceptance.

In addition to videos, students in the S.W.E.E.T. class run events such as assemblies, pep rallies, transition events, and have a capstone “Changemakers Project” in which they work with the community to answer the question: “How might we, as middle school students, make a difference in our community?”

“Eva is the most dedicated and compassionate teacher that I have ever worked with,” said Fox Middle Principal Aaron Wilken. “She comes to work every day with energy and enthusiasm. She truly loves her students, our school, and our district,” Mr. Wilken said. “Mrs. Rudolph inspires others through her passion for teaching and the relationships that she forms with her students.”

Eva not only teaches students, but teachers as well as a district T2 Math Specialist. She facilitates math training classes for teachers during the school year and over the summer and has represented Fox C-6 at various conferences both locally and nationally. “As a math teacher, it is my duty to make sure that all students have the tools to be successful,” Rudolph said. “As a student, math was the most challenging subject for me…[as a teacher] I understand how to help students of all abilities - especially students who struggle.”

Ms. Rudolph has made a clear impact on many students throughout her time at Fox Middle School. “I could write pages and pages of wonderful things about [Ms. Rudolph] and the positive impact she has made on my life,” said one former student. “But I will finish by saying thank you. Thank you Fox C-6 for bringing her into my life...Thank you for finding the extraordinary.”

To become a building Teacher of the Year, and to qualify for the District honor, teachers must be nominated by a fellow teacher, administrator, parent, or student. They must then complete a comprehensive application process to demonstrate excellence both inside and outside the classroom.

“Selecting a District Teacher of the Year from our pool of dedicated, thoughtful educators is extremely difficult,” said Superintendent Jim Wipke. “I cannot express how thankful I am for each and every one of our staff members who make countless sacrifices to better the lives of students. We have phenomenal staff here and we value taking the time to really thank them for all they do for our community.”

Thank you to all of our community members for nominating teachers and making it an incredibly close decision. “I hope we all take a few moments out of our busy schedule to thank each of our friends and colleagues for their work and support,” Wipke said. “Thank you to all of our staff members for creating a community where students and staff alike can find success.”

Ms. Rudolph will now have the chance to represent the District as a St. Louis Regional Teacher of the Year.
