Gifted Education Nominations

All kindergarten students in the District will participate in whole-group gifted screening lessons.  Upon completion of these screening lessons, 20-25% of kindergarten students will be recommended for participation in small-group enrichment lessons based on academic performance and teacher request.  Kindergarten students demonstrating gifted characteristics are eligible for nomination in the spring.  All kindergarten nominations are submitted by the classroom teacher.

Students in grades 1-8 who demonstrate advanced academic ability and higher-level thinking skills should be considered for gifted screening.  Eligibility for placement in the gifted program is determined upon completion of a formal gifted evaluation.  The evaluation process is outlined in the Fox C-6 Gifted Identification Flow Charts.  Nominations are accepted December 1 - February 15.  All testing is completed in the spring and newly qualified students begin receiving services the following school year.
