The district is proud to recognize 1997 Fox High School graduate Kacie Heiken-Ploen as the September 2014 Alumni of the Month!  After her graduation from Fox, Kacie earned her undergraduate degree in Education before earning a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction. For the past 13 years, she has worked at Ridgewood Middle School.

Kacie was nominated because of her dedication as a teacher inside and outside the classroom. She teaches an all-girls leadership class called Aftershock, and has volunteered as a sponsor for numerous clubs, including cheerleading, skateboarding, and craft club. This year, she will volunteer as a volleyball coach alongside her colleague Mr. Wideman.
“When I was in second grade,” Kacie said, “I knew that I wanted to be two things: a teacher and a mom. I'm blessed that both of my dreams came true. I love coming to work. I love interacting and learning with and from my students daily. Every day and hour is new!”

Kacie is not only an alumnus of Fox High School, but also spent her time as a student at both Antonia Elementary and Seckman Middle. When thinking about her time as a student, Kacie reflected:

“… the best memory I have is going into high school and seeing so many different groups of students. At first it was hard to define which click I belonged to, but I was stretched to accept others. Mr. Miller's speech class really helped to empower me. I had a group of people that I hung around with, but I became friends with people that I never thought I would have. I learned so much about acceptance, and for this I'm thankful.”

Congratulations to our September 2014 ALUMNI OF THE MONTH:
