Seckman Middle School's Dawn Lehmann was recently recognized at a School Nutrition Association conference for her outstanding work with students. She was presented with the National Heart of the Program Award.
Mrs. Lehmann works in the kitchen at Seckman Middle, helping to serve nutritious food to her students there. Her commitment to kids extends farther than just breakfast and lunch, however. She regularly works alongside her fellow SMS staff members to assist them at events outside normal school hours. Mrs. Lehmann also works together with a colleague in creating a two-hour cooking class, which she teaches once a week to fourth, fifth and sixth grade students in the district.
According to the School Nutrition Association, this award is presented because "employees influence the quality of school nutrition programs by customer service, interest in young people, cooperation, work attendance, creativity, participation in professional growth and training and their willingness to 'Go The Extra Mile' when necessary." Mrs. Lehmann's commitment to her students is another example of the Fox C-6 School District's mission to prepare our students for success in life.
