BoE Highlights

In an attempt to better involve and inform the community, the district will be compiling a list of highlights from every board meeting and posting them to the website the following day. For a calendar of meetings or to view agendas and board packets, please visit the Board of Education section of the Fox C-6 Website.

Last night’s board meeting covered a variety of topics. Some of the highlights are outlined below. For a full meeting agenda, please click here.

• STUDENT ENROLLMENT
The Board was presented with information regarding student enrollment in the Fox C-6 District. Enrollment in Elementary Schools is up by 30 students, but down by 180 in district High Schools. This follows a trend of slow declining enrollment the district has witnessed over the past few years. The enrollment change will not be reflected in this year’s budget, but will be accounted for the following year.

• CALENDAR CHANGE
Due to concerns about polling security on Election Day, November 4th, 2014, the Board approved a calendar change for the 2014-2015 school year. The professional learning day scheduled for Friday, November 7th has been moved to Tuesday, November 4th. The Fox C-6 district will be closed for teachers’ professional learning on November 4th, but will now be open on Friday, November 7th.

• STUDENT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
The Board approved the continuation of the district’s Student Assistance Program. This program specifically provides mental health services to students. It is one of many program designed to foster healthy learners.

• SECKMAN HIGH SCHOOL TRIP TO DC
The Seckman High School band was nominated by U.S. Senator Roy Blunt to participate in the National Independence Day Parade in Washington DC. The band will represent the entire state of Missouri in the parade. The Board approved the request for the students to take this trip and participate in the honor of representing their home state on a national level.
